We are incredibly excited to be partnering with arts charity, Ignite Imaginations, on an arts project connecting women’s groups and refugee groups throughout Sheffield. Inspired by the words of Jo Cox – “we are far more united and have far more in common with each other than that which divides us” – the groups will participate together in creative workshops exploring the theme: More in Common – Our Hopes and Dreams.
The workshops will bring together women from many different backgrounds to share their hopes and dreams for their own future, and that of their families. Facilitated by the artistic team at Ignite Imaginations, the women will create some awesome pieces of art which we will display in a central Sheffield location. We are also looking at ways to ensure that the content we create and the lessons we learn live on past the project – so watch this space!
We are really excited about this project and about working closely with Ignite Imaginations, which is well known for its work celebrating and connecting communities through art and creativity. We are passionate about undoing the dehumanisation of certain groups in the media, and aim to show the public how much we all have in common, regardless of where we come from.
Planning for the project is already underway – if you would like to stay up to date with our progress, then sign up to our newsletter and follow us on social media. Ignite imaginations is in the process of recruiting the artists for this work, so if you are interested in getting involved please contact them directly.
