The ways that racism manifests has changed over time and may not be as we expect – making change happen can be difficult to navigate.
What is the change you want to create?
Cost: 449.99 USD – a third of the fee will go to a black-run charity chosen by the participants
Change is hard and driving acceleration on anti-racist approaches is difficult. We’ve created three core modules to walk you through aspects of anti-racism. The workshop will be a place to relax, feel safe and share (and also feel tension for change) – we’re going to use a scary phrase in the aid sector: being vulnerable.
We will draw on a survey we collaborated on with Thomson Reuters Foundation, our lessons from the sector, as well as key literature on anti-racism.
What do we cover?
- Power dynamics
- Racism and equal opportunity survey results
- Sharing real life experiences
- Reflections and actions
By the end of the course, you will have:
- Defined specific challenges
- Discussed power dynamics in relation to your work
- Reflected on biases in a confidential manner
- Analysed racism and equal opportunities data
- Discussed leadership outcomes and possible actions
- Come up with your insights, actions and accelerated your change process
Topics maybe adapted slightly closer to the date – participants will be notified of any changes.
How will the workshop be structured?
You will dig deep and learn by doing. The workshop will include weekly information prompts, group discussions, reflections and actions that you will make for yourselves. There will be a group call at 5pm GMT, every Tuesday – which is critical to attend. We’ll create a confidential specific discussion group on our Innovation platform to continue discussing beyond the workshop.
Is this workshop for me?
This workshop is for people who want to gain further insights, make change happen, either for themselves or for their organisation.
What are my next steps?
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, and we’ll send you an application to complete. We’ll then organise a one-to-one call to discuss your needs.
Please note all discussions and information will be in confidence – we never mention an agency’s name or details. One of our core values is creating safe spaces to make change happen.
