Today is World Health Day, which every year marks the anniversary of the World Health Organization. This year the chosen theme is depression, which is the leading cause of ill health and disability worldwide.
As an organisation founded by, and supporting aid workers, we are acutely aware of the stresses involved in responding to humanitarian emergencies. If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, you are not alone – and there are resources available to help you. Start by listening to our mindfulness podcast, created especially for aid workers by Envision Hypnotherapy. Then head over to the Headington Institute – an organisation helping humanitarian and emergency response personnel to have the self-care techniques, resources and the support they need to thrive in their work.
Everyone here at Aid Works wishes you a healthy and happy World Health Day.
